BSB to issue brand new Public Access Guidelines for Barristers, Clients and Clerks

In April 2013 the Bar Standards Board will issue brand new Guidance for the Public Access scheme for Barristers, Clients and Clerks.

The new Guidance will update the scheme following the recent consultation and developments in case law and practice.

It will clarify the old guidance on Barristers engaging in Correspondence on behalf of their clients and what ‘conducting litigation‘ actually means in the email age. It will also end the blanket rule on clients who would be entitled to Legal Aid declining Public Funding in favour of Public Access.
